Levitra for Erectile Dysfunction
With Viagra and Cialis out in the market for men suffering with erectile dysfunction, another rising medication for this condition is Levitra with the generic name of vardenafil HCl. This drug is also utilized to treat erectile dysfunction in men, and study shows that 90% of men who took Levitra noticed improved erections. While Viagra works for four hours and Cialis for an astounding 36 hours, Levitra works for about a day or 24 hours. Levitra can be taken once a day to treat erectile dysfunction. And just like the two erectile dysfunction medications stated above, this also works to inhibit the phosphodiesterase-5 enzyme or PDE-5. As the smooth muscles located in the penis relax due to the inhibition of PDE-5, it allows for more blood flow into the penis, thus, the penis becomes harder and stays harder.Levitra is best advised to be taken as suggested and directed by your primary care physician. And this drug can also be taken in an empty or full stomach. One advantage that Levitra has is that it can be taken on an as-needed basis only and is advised to be taken at least an hour ahead before your sexual activity. It helps man accomplish and maintain an erection when he experiences sexual stimulation, and he does not have to worry that as soon as he takes the pill he will have an erection already. Instead, it will act normally and give man an erection as soon as sexual stimulation is given.
But like any other medications, there are contraindications to it. It is not advisable for a man to drink grapefruit juice or eat grapefruit when he just took Levitra or is thinking of taking Levitra as it can combine with the grapefruit and grapefruit juice. This combination can have dangerous side effects. For better understanding of why it is contraindicated, it is advisable to consult with your primary care physician. Possible side effects of Levitra may include headache, indigestion, flushing, and nasal congestion. For people with chronic heart problems and high or low blood pressure, avoid using this medication. It is also not advisable to take Levitra more than the recommended dosing of once a day. And in some people, it is recommended by their primary care physicians to take the medication once every three days or 72 hours. For best results, follow the directions given to you by your doctor.
For a person taking Levitra, watch out for signs of angina or chest pain radiating to the arms or jaw, nausea or dizziness during sexual intercourse. If you notice these symptoms, stop your activity and advise your doctor of your symptoms. And for an erection that stays longer than four hours, seek medical attention immediately as maintained erection for that long can damage your penis.
Note, tell your doctor all the medications, be it prescription drugs or nonprescription drugs, especially antihypertensive medications and nitrate medications you are taking before you ask a prescription for Levitra as there may be possible drug interactions.
So try Levitra a cheap alternative.
